Family Lore: Dave "The Scotsman" Thompson

On the top right corner of our metaphorical ancestor square is the Paternal Father corner, aka the Thompson Ancestral Line. Before we start researching The Thompson Corner Line, in order to be aware of some of the internalized biases we have, let us list out what we remember of the "Family Lore" that we grew up with about a certain Dave "The Scotsman" Thompson: Our first male ancestor, on our Paternal Father's side, to get on a boat and sail from England to what is now called America; His name was David Thompson (note the spelling includes a 'p'); He went by Dave "The Scotsman" Thompson; He was from Scotland; He had at least one son, and was therefore presumably married, as he was presumably also a monotheist from the Puritan Christianity Cultus; Thompson Island, in what is now called Massachusetts, belong to him, he lived there, and it was later named after him.
